Heello is Twitpic’s founder, Noah Everrett’s reply to Twitter. Actually it’s exactly like Twitter. The look, the feel and the simplicity match it all. I guess this is his form of sweet revenge, considering Twitter recently rolled out a photo-sharing service that pretty much made TwitPic useless.
I tried to sign-up but the server was down… #failwhale? Anyway it looks cool with its clean and simple design. However, it echos every feature that Twitter has to offer.
Pings = Tweets
Echo = Retweeting
Listening to friends = Following friends
The only difference is that pings are real time, so don’t take too long reading one because by the time you click it, it may have already changed. Everett told VentureBeat that his new platform will later support videos, check-ins, SMS, mobile applications and much more.
Heello already offers Facebook and Twitter integration (ouch!) so that your Heello posts can still post to your other social networks.
I’m over being skeptical of the new guy in the neighborhood, but we’ll see how this pans out. Until then I patiently await for the server to work again so I can get my Ping on.
What do you think of Heello? Will you be ditching Twitter anytime soon? What do you predict some of the benefits will be over Twitter?
